A dancer who moves
beyond the stage
Katie Watterson is a 14-year-old competitive dancer entering her 7th year on the competitive circuit, training at Snap Dance Studios in Cochrane, Alberta. She began dancing at age 3 and has built a technically rigorous foundation across ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap — including RAD Ballet to the Advanced 1 level and on pointe since March 2023.
Known for her performance quality, artistic maturity, and versatility, Katie competes across multiple styles with consistent top placements at regional and provincial levels. In the 2024 season she placed 2nd overall at Evolve Calgary, 3rd at Evolve Banff, and 1st overall at Wild Rose Dance Arts. In 2025 she advanced to provincials at Evolve Calgary as a 4th overall advanced teen soloist, and took 3rd overall at Inspire Dance Challenge.
In the 2025–26 season, Katie earned the Lightning Elite $1,000 scholarship at Evolve Calgary and was named a Radix Protege Finalist — competing in Chicago, IL. She was also awarded the Jamie Hill and Tammy Lynn Powers Memorial Scholarship, and played the lead role of Clara in the Nutcracker 2025, performed en pointe.
Beyond competing, Katie is in her 3rd year as an assistant teacher through the STEP program at Snap Dance Studios, and assisted Sophia Lucia's turn class at Excel Dance Experience in both summer and fall 2025. Off the stage, she has built a following of 11.1K on Instagram and is actively exploring collegiate dance programs in the United States for 2029 and beyond.
